Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based dynamic and fast growing luxury hotel and hospitality management company, has signed an exclusive three-year sponsorship agreement with teenage golfing sensation Rory McIlroy.

As a Jumeirah Ambassador, McIlroy, who is set to launch his professional career playing in The British Masters at The Belfry this week, will carry Jumeirah branding on his clothing for the next three years. Over the next 12 months Rory will also appear in Jumeirah’s global marketing campaign, as the Group continues its rapid expansion.

Jumeirah already has significant involvement in international golf as the official hotel and partner of giD (Golf in Dubai), which includes the Dubai Desert Classic and Dubai Ladies Masters. This is the first time the Group has sponsored an individual player.

Guy Crawford, Chief Executive Officer from Jumeirah Group said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Jumeirah Group to sponsor a budding world class golfer whose profile perfectly fits the Jumeirah brand. We are looking forward to following the success of this young, dynamic talent for many years to come”.

Rory McIlroy commented, “Jumeirah is an outstanding luxury brand and I am thrilled to be representing a Group which shares so many of the values and ambitions I have as I launch my professional career. The next three years will be a hugely exciting period for both myself and Jumeirah, and I am looking forward to working closely with the sponsorship team.”

McIlroy, who won the Silver medal as the leading amateur at The 2007 Open Championship, turned professional at an announcement at The Belfry, UK, on 18 September 2007.
